The officer told Sanders he could appear in court on June 16 to contest the citation if he chose to do so, but TMZ noted court records indicate he opted not to do that.
Per Medina Municipal Court records obtained by Alex Darus of Cleveland.com, Sanders' citation was issued on June 5, and it cost him $249 between fines and court costs.
The June 5 citation is one of two known traffic violations for Sanders this month. Darus noted the second came on June 17 when Strongsville police pulled him over for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone. He is due to appear in Strongsville’s Mayor’s Court on July 3.
Cleveland Browns spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told Darus the team has spoken with Sanders' about his citations.
"He is taking care of the tickets," said John-Baptiste.
Speaking to reporters at a celebrity softball game hosted by Browns tight end David Njoku on Thursday, Sanders said he has "made some wrong choices" and will "learn from them."
The Browns are currently on a break after holding their three-day mandatory minicamp from June 10-12. They will reconvene starting on July 18 when rookies are scheduled to report to training camp.
Sanders is part of a four-way competition with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel to be Cleveland's starting quarterback entering the regular season.
