Nicholas Kerr Will Join Dad Steve's Warriors Coaching Staff After G-League Stint
After spending the last few seasons with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors, Nicholas Kerr is joining his father's staff with the Golden State Warriors.
Santa Cruz announced that Kerr, son of Golden State head coach Steve Kerr, is being called up to the NBA.
Kerr, who played college basketball at San Diego and California, got his coaching start as a graduate assistant with the Golden Bears. He joined the San Antonio Spurs as a quality assurance assistant in 2017 before cutting his teeth in various roles in Golden State from 2018 to 2021.
Kerr became an assistant in Santa Cruz in 2021 before taking over as the team's head coach in 2023.
Santa Cruz had winning seasons in both of Kerr's years as head coach, and the team reached the G-League semifinals in 2024 and the quarterfinals this year.
According to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, Warriors head video coordinator Lainn Wilson is taking over as Santa Cruz's head coach.
Steve Kerr has been the Warriors' head coach since 2014, leading the team to four titles and six Finals appearances. With his son now re-joining him, the two will look to find even more success.
