The San Antonio Spurs' second-year superstar has been visiting a Shaolin Temple in China this summer, where he shaved his head and has dined with the monks.

Wemby has always been something of a "Renaissance Man." He's long loved to create art and read—a favorite of his is fantasy author Brandon Sanderson—and his answers to questions about basketball, or life, often reveal a philosophical perspective.
"The goal for me in my life is to accomplish myself and to be a complete human being," he told The Ringer in 2024. "I'm free to do what I want and what I need to do, and there's nothing that is going to stop me from doing so."
He spent much of last season preparing for and playing in the Olympics for Team France, which reached the gold-medal game but fell short against the United States and Stephen Curry's epic performance.
Deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder cut his season short in February, and with a more traditional offseason ahead of him, he's chosen to spend some time traveling, even visiting the Great Wall of China. The 21-year-old has shown an appetite for becoming one of the greats in the game, but he's shown an inclination to enrich his life off the court as well.
