Terry McLaurin Attending Minicamp Reportedly in Question amid Commanders Contract Buzz
Terry McLaurin could be a no-show at the Washington Commanders' minicamp this offseason.
Amid the wide receiver's frustrations over contract talks, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that McLaurin's presence at minicamp is in question.
"He's kind of been their ironman over the years, playing through bad quarterbacks," Fowler said on SportsCenter. "He got an extension three years ago. Well, now he's looking for another one a year away from free agency. And last time he stayed away from offseason workouts before he got a deal, it was a bit uncomfortable. We'll see what happens with minicamp. Does he report? There is a question about that right now. Certainly, Washington wants to keep him in the fold long term. They've had some talks, but not enough progress yet to get to any sort of deal."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported earlier this week that McLaurin is "frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal" and "unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending."
McLaurin is set to play the 2025 season on the final season of a three-year deal and will earn a base salary of $15.5 million. With wide receivers like Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb resetting the market with massive deals in recent years, there's an argument to be made that McLaurin is a bit underpaid.
The 29-year-old has recorded five consecutive seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards despite inconsistency at the quarterback position in Washington. He had one of the best seasons of his career in 2024 with 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns.
Even with the addition of Deebo Samuel this offseason, McLaurin is still the clear No. 1 option of the Commanders' wide receiver room. It's hard to imagine that, if McLaurin were to hold out, Washington wouldn't try to meet his contract desires sooner rather than later.
The Commanders, who reached the NFC Championship game a year ago, are trending upward, and keeping McLaurin on the roster would be integral to their continued growth.
