Rams' Jared Verse Says Aaron Donald Gave Him 'Workout from Hell' After Challenge
Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Jared Verse says he paid for challenging Aaron Donald's lifting technique by joining the three-time Defensive Player of the Year for a "workout from hell."
"I tried to test a legend... and he responded with a workout from hell. Learned my lesson," Verse captioned a photo of himself and Donald.
Verse originally joked about doubting Donald's workout techniques in a Tuesday appearance on the Adam Schefter Podcast.
When Schefter asked Verse if he ever worked out with Donald during the offseason, the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year responded, "He don't want that. He's not ready for that."
"That little 500 bench he has? He's not ready for that. I'll be moving weight, I'll be moving weight," Verse told Schefter. "Whenever he's ready for a workout, I be seeing his little Instagram posts with the dumbbell bench. He can get at me whenever he's ready."
Donald was ready by the next day, when he posted a video on his Instagram story challenging Verse to work out with him.
"I'm looking for you, Verse... Come to the house. I just wanna talk," Donald said while working out in the Wednesday video. "Play with a little weights. Do a little cardio. You know, the old man retirement workout. Let's put you through it, let's see what you can do."
That "old man retirement workout" was apparently enough to impress the Ram's young defensive star.
Donald retired after his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl campaign with the Rams one month before the franchise drafted Verse in 2024.
The former NFL star said in February that Verse's DROY award had been "well deserved" after the 24-year-old recorded 4.5 sacks, 66 tackles and 18 quarterback hits while recovering two fumbles in his 2024 season with the Rams.
