Nic Claxton, Fiance Mariah Castro Thank Brooklyn in New IG Post After Nets Trade Star to Bulls
Nic Claxton and his family have sent a farewell message to the only NBA team has known as he prepares to join the Chicago Bulls.
Claxton's fiancee, Mariah Castro, posted a message on her Instagram about the city of Brooklyn being the place "where we met, and where we started our family" as they say goodbye to this chapter of their lives:
"Thank you, Brooklyn. This is where we met, and where we started our family. We are so grateful for every moment and every person who made this chapter so special. I am so incredibly proud of Nic for all he has accomplished these past seven years. The journey continues, and we are excited for this next chapter. Brooklyn will always have a special place in our hearts.
"With love, Nic, Mariah & Kai."
Claxton's farewell comes after the Nets agreed to send him to Chicago in a three-team trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. that will bring Julius Randle to Brooklyn.
The Nets drafted Claxton in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft, and he became a mainstay in Brooklyn throughout a period of time that saw stars come and go and a rebuild start to take place.
Over the past few seasons, he's turned into a reliable starting big man, putting up 11.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this year. He's also recorded more than a block per game in each of the last six seasons.
What's more, he's been durable in recent years, playing 69 or more games since the 2022-23 season.
Claxton, still just 27 years old, should fit in well with a young Chicago rotation as he looks to help lead the Bulls back to prominence in the Eastern Conference.
