Jalen Brunson, Knicks Players Shown With 'Finals 2026' Sign in Nightclub Photos
The New York Knicks have big plans for next season.
Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and other Knicks players were seen partying with a sign that said "Finals 2026" in the background:
Christian Arnold of the New York Post noted the pictures were taken Monday night, which was less than 24 hours before head coach Tom Thibodeau was fired and shortly after the Knicks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday.
New York was close to the Finals this season, as it eliminated the reigning-champion Boston Celtics in the second round and had home-court advantage in the conference finals against the Pacers.
However, it never recovered from a Game 1 collapse and overtime loss against the Pacers and is now headed back to the drawing board after the decision to fire Thibodeau.
Still, it isn't difficult to envision the Knicks on the short list of Finals contenders in the Eastern Conference next season.
Jayson Tatum's torn Achilles makes the future murky at best for the Celtics, while Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors figure to dominate the offseason for the Milwaukee Bucks. The Cleveland Cavaliers finished with the best record this season but looked to be far from a title during their second-round loss to Indiana.
While the Pacers figure to be in the mix again, the Knicks were arguably a Game 1 collapse away from having a different outcome in their series.
With the right moves this offseason, perhaps New York could make the "2026 Finals" sign a reality.
