NBA Finals Hypothetical Betting Odds Revealed for SGA, Thunder vs. Haliburton, Pacers
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder are favored to win the 2025 NBA title even if the Indiana Pacers eliminate the New York Knicks to make it out of the East.
Here's a look at the hypothetical series odds released Friday by FanDuel Sportsbook.
2024-25 NBA Finals Odds: Hypothetical Series, IND v. OKC
Oklahoma City Thunder: -770
Indiana Pacers: +540
The Thunder are also favored to take Game 1 if the Pacers clinch a berth in the NBA Finals.
The Thunder are favorites to win regardless of which team emerges from the East, according to FanDuel:
NBA Championship 2024-25 Winner Odds
Oklahoma City Thunder: -750
Indiana Pacers: +700
New York Knicks: +1600
Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers could clinch a spot in the Finals with a Game 6 win over the Knicks when the Eastern Conference finals resume on Saturday in Indianapolis.
The Pacers had a chance to close out the series in Game 5, but Jalen Brunson helped the Knicks keep the series alive with a blowout Thursday night win at Madison Square Garden.
The Thunder clinched the top seed in the West with the best regular-season record in the NBA this season at 64-18.
That included a 29-1 record against teams from the Eastern Conference, as well as a 4-0 mark against the Pacers and Knicks. The Thunder's lone loss to an East team coming on Jan. 8 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who earned the 2024-25 NBA MVP title for his ability to lead this dominant regular-season effort, hasn't slowed down any in the postseason.
He posted a combined 74 points in the final two games of the Thunder's Western Conference finals win over Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Pacers' and Knicks' stars have been less consistent, with Clutch Player of the Year Brunson going quiet late in the Game 4 loss that put New York on the brink of elimination and Haliburton struggling when the Pacers missed the chance to clinch in Game 5.
Given that both teams have yet to win against the Thunder this season, it seems like oddsmakers are betting on Oklahoma City even before knowing which opponent Gilgeous-Alexander will be taking on for the title.
