Cowboys HC Says CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens Have 'Awesome' Relationship After Trade
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Thursday that CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens have already developed an "awesome" teammate relationship since Pickens' trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cowboys traded a third-rounder and a pick swap earlier this month in order to add Pickens as another target for quarterback Dak Prescott.
Schottenheimer told reporters at the 7:00 mark of Thursday's press conference that Pickens has so far been "doing an incredible job picking up the system" during OTAs.

Schottenheimer went on to tell the story of how Pickens impressed Lamb with a pass he caught from quarterback Joe Milton.
"There was a play, and it really wasn't anything George did, but we were in the red zone, and we were in kind of a spread formation, and we hit him for a touchdown, Joe did on a little bender, like a little skinny post, down in the low red zone," Schottenheimer said. "And CeeDee was on the other side. And when CeeDee broke out, and he looked back to see where the ball went, and he saw George in the end zone, he kind of dragged his toes up, CeeDee was like, 'Yes!'
"So I think his excitement for knowing that we've added some pieces, which will add to the competition, was cool to see a guy like CeeDee be excited. And those two guys' relationship is awesome. I'm sure you guys have probably done stories on it, but they're spending a lot of time together."
Schottenheimer continued, "I think it's great for CeeDee to have someone like George, not that George is a young player, but someone that GP really looks up to in CeeDee. They obviously have trained some together, but that relationship is really cool. I'm enjoying kind of just sitting back and watching it develop."
Lamb and Pickens have worked out together every offseason since 2022, according to DallasCowboys.com's Tommy Yarrish. Pickens previously told reporters that Lamb was one of the first people from the Cowboys organization to reach out to him following the trade.
Both wide receivers have also been complimentary of one another's skill sets since the trade. Lamb told reporters that he and Pickens "complement each other very well" because of "his ability to go up and get the ball at the highest point." Pickens, meanwhile, said he has been learning "intermediate stuff" from working with Lamb.
The Cowboys will now hope Lamb can help Pickens adjust to his new role as a top target for Dak Prescott. The star quarterback appeared to be a full participant for the last two weeks of Cowboys OTAs amid his recovery from last November's season-ending hamstring injury, per ESPN's Todd Archer.
