Puma to Release 'Overrate That' Tyrese Haliburton Shirt Ahead of Pacers-Knicks Game 5
Being called overrated might've been the best thing to happen to Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.
The two-time All-Star has played with a chip on his shoulder throughout the 2025 NBA playoffs, and now Puma is immortalizing the critical assessment he received from his peers. The apparel company unveiled a T-shirt reading, "Overrate That."
Haliburton was the leading vote-getter when The Athletic's Sam Amick and Josh Robbins polled players to name the most overrated in the league.
The headlines it generated carried far more significance than was warranted from the actual exercise. Amick and Robbins only got 90 responses, not a large sample in a league as big as the NBA, and 13 wound up voting for Haliburton.
The 25-year-old rolled with the punches, telling The Athletic's Jared Weiss he developed an "immunity to rejection" thanks to conversations with the Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid and Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum.
"At some point, worrying about what my peers think only holds so much weight," he said. "I think my peers (whom) I really respect, that changes things.
"For that poll, there's no names to faces. It's all anonymous. Having relationships with guys like Jayson and Joel, who are guys that I know at the top of the game, them being honest with me, that's important. I respect their opinions more than anybody.”
Still, Haliburton is only human and can be forgiven if getting labeled overrated bruised his ego a bit. Between hitting several big shots and goading opposing fans, he seems to relish the opportunity to silence his skeptics.
Even if the Pacers reach the NBA Finals and lose in short order to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the "Overrate That" shirts will be a great way to call back to a memorable postseason run.
