Windhorst Expects Julius Randle, Myles Turner to Get New Wolves, Pacers FA Contracts

Paul KasabianMay 28, 2025

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle and Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner are impending free agents, but ESPN's Brian Windhorst said on NBA Today he believes both players will stay with their respective teams (2:05 mark).

"I would expect both of them to stay put," Windhorst said.

"That said, if you do have dreams of getting a player in free agency, it's probably gonna be one of these two guys."

Both Randle's Timberwolves and Turner's Pacers remain alive in the Western and Eastern Conference Finals, respectively. Minnesota is down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their best-of-seven series, while Indiana is up 3-1 on the New York Knicks in the East.

The 30-year-old Randle averaged 18.7 points on 48.5 percent shooting, 7.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists in the regular season. However, he's enjoyed an excellent playoff performance for a Timberwolves team that's risen from a No. 6 seed to the conference finals after matchup wins over the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. Randle notably had a 10-game stretch where he averaged 25.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists from April 22 to May 20.

Turner is the starting center on a Pacers team on the precipice of winning its second Eastern Conference title ever and first since 2000. The 29-year-old Turner, who is in his 10th NBA season, averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game this year. He's been a big asset in the playoffs, perhaps nevermore than Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, when he scored 13 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter of a crucial 114-109 victory.

Naturally, both should be under consideration for teams this offseason, but Minnesota and Indiana would assuredly want these core pieces back as they look to continue their success.
