Patrick Beverley Says SGA Wouldn't Dap Him Up Because Of His Anthony Edwards Jersey
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander apparently wasn't happy to see former teammate Patrick Beverley wearing Minnesota Timberwolves merch courtside during the Oklahoma City Thunder's Game 4 Western Conference Finals win on Monday night in Minneapolis.
Patrick Beverley said on Wednesday's episode of the Pat Bev Pod that Gilgeous-Alexander refused to dap him up after the game before he was wearing an Anthony Edwards jersey.
"So I'm gonna tell you about Shai, how cold Shai is: I go to Shai after the game, to dap him up, and he say, "I ain't gonna lie, I can't dap you up right now OG. You got on the MF jersey,'" Beverley said.
Beverley continued, "That's the mindset you have to have... Don't even come near me with that jersey type s--t. I respect it. I like it. That's how you have to be.
"I knew where it was coming from. It's coming from a good place. It's coming from an organic place. And he locked in. That's what I look from that."
The Timberwolves had a chance to tie the series at home after claiming a 42-point Game 3 blowout victory on Saturday at Target Center.
Gilgeous-Alexander instead responded with 40 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to help the Thunder claim a 128-126 victory and a 3-1 series lead.
This isn't the first time Beverley has expressed admiration of Gilgeous-Alexander his season. He said on the Pat Bev Pod in April, a month before Gilgeous-Alexander was named the league's 2024-25 MVP, that the Oklahoma City star deserved the award.
Gilgeous-Alexander could now get a shot at a second MVP award this season if he is able to lead the Thunder to the NBA Finals with a Game 5 win on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
