Tahaad Pettiford Voted 2025 NBA Draft's Most Underrated Player in Prospect Survey

Tahaad Pettiford might be moving up boards ahead of the 2025 NBA draft on June 25.

ESPN's Jeff Borzello, Jeremy Woo, Jonathan Givony and Zach Kram asked players at the NBA scouting combine who they believed was the most underrated prospect available in this year's draft, and the Auburn point guard received the most votes.

He was followed by Arizona forward Carter Bryant.

"He's a very good guard, can bring a lot to an NBA team for sure," Auburn's Johni Broome said of his college teammate. "He's very explosive, he makes the right plays. He's young, but he can definitely grow into a very good young player."

While Pettiford started just one game for the Tigers during his freshman campaign, he still averaged 11.6 points, 3.0 assists and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from deep.

He was an SEC All-Freshman selection and then played his best basketball at the biggest moments as a 2025 NCAA Tournament All-Region selection who helped lead Auburn to the Final Four from the South Regional.

Pettiford poured in 23 points in the team's second-round win over Creighton and then followed that up with 20 points in a Sweet 16 victory over Michigan.

B/R's Jonathan Wasserman projected the guard to go No. 29 overall in his latest mock draft on Thursday and pointed to Brandon Jennings as a pro comparison.

"Tahaad Pettiford had a needle-moving NBA combine, measuring a 6'5.5" wingspan, jumping 42 inches and lighting up Wednesday's scrimmage with 23 points and eight assists," Wasserman wrote. "While his shot fell off on Thursday, his talent still popped relative to the other nine players on the floor. The ability to [get to] spots, shoot and leverage his elusiveness into playmaking made Pettiford look like a change-of-pace offensive bench spark at the least."

It seems like his fellow players certainly noticed.
