Kevin Durant Responds to Fan Questioning NBA Legacy Amid Suns Trade Rumors

Scott PolacekMay 27, 2025

Kevin Durant doesn't seem too bothered that at least one fan doesn't see him as a top-15 player in NBA history.

"Like I always say! Make your own rules up and curate this nba fantasy world the way u want," the Phoenix Suns star posted Thursday. "Enjoy that top 15 list."

The comment was in response to a fan who said he doesn't believe Durant can be considered a top-15 player because he has moved around so much during his career. And the next move could come this offseason, as there has been no shortage of rumors suggesting the Suns may look to trade him before the 2025-26 campaign.

Durant has played for the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns in his career.

None of his moves drew as much scrutiny as his decision to join the Warriors ahead of the 2016-17 campaign. After all, Golden State had just won an NBA-record 73 games the previous season and eliminated his Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

Still, it worked out for Durant, as he won two championships and two NBA Finals MVPs during his time with Golden State.

Those accomplishments stand out on a resume that includes a league MVP, four scoring titles, a Rookie of the Year, 11 All-NBA selections, 15 All-Star nods, four Olympic gold medals and the record as the all-time leading scorer in United States Olympic basketball history.

He is widely considered one of the best players of his generation and has the case to be seen as a legendary great who could thrive in any era.

That is good enough for plenty of fans to consider him a top-15 player in NBA history, even if the one he responded to doesn't see him in that light.
