Carmelo Anthony Wants Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade to Do His HOF Intro

Adam WellsMay 26, 2025

Carmelo Anthony has extremely high aspirations when it comes to who will introduce him into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the induction ceremony.

Appearing on the Podcast P with Paul George show (starts at 15:00 mark), Anthony cited Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade as former NBA players he would like to introduce him at the event this summer.

Typically, inductees will have one person give a speech introducing them and talking about their personal and professional achievements. The three names Anthony listed would all make some degree of sense to introduce him.

Anthony's affiliation with Jordan Brand extends back to his high school days at Oak Hill Academy, which was sponsored by the brand. He signed a sponsorship deal with Jordan Brand prior to his rookie season in 2003-04 and that partnership has continued to this day.

Iverson and Anthony were teammates for parts of three seasons with the Denver Nuggets from 2006 to '08. The 2007-08 Nuggets won 50 games in the regular season for the first time since 1987-88.

Wade would seem to be the most logical choice to induct Anthony. They both entered the NBA in the same draft and are members of the famed Banana Boat Crew, along with LeBron James and Chris Paul.

Anthony and Wade also played together for Team USA in two different Olympics in 2004 and 2008, winning gold in the latter as part of the Redeem Team.

No matter who ends up being the one to do the introduction, Anthony will get the chance to be properly celebrated for a stellar 19-year NBA career after having one of the all-time great freshman seasons in college basketball history at Syracuse in 2002-03.

Anthony is part of the 2025 Hall of Fame class that also includes Dwight Howard, Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore. That group will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 6.
