Jalen Brunson Says He Has 'A Lot of Respect for' Pacers After Knicks' Comeback Win

Adam WellsMay 26, 2025

On a night when the New York Knicks essentially saved their season with a comeback win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Jalen Brunson's appreciation for the Indiana Pacers is very high.

Speaking to reporters after Sunday's 106-100 win, Brunson made sure to note he has "a lot of respect" for the Pacers knowing there's still a lot of work for New York to do.

"Both teams are going to continue to fight to the buzzer," the Knicks star said. "Got a lot of respect for them over there. We just have to keep playing our style of basketball and keep grinding it out."

Game 3 looked like it was going to be another disappointment for the Knicks. They scored just 45 points in the first half and trailed by as many 20 points. Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns played most of the fourth quarter with five fouls.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau was scrambling to find any lineup combinations that would work. Landry Shamet and Delon Wright combined to play 24 minutes after playing a total of 26 seconds in the first two games.

Things finally swung in New York's favor in the fourth quarter, particularly with Towns. The Knicks center scored 20 of his 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the final period.

Brunson actually played his worst game of the series with 23 points on 6-of-18 shooting and one assist, but he made all 10 of his free throws to help New York claw its way back.

The Knicks outscored Indiana 36-20 in the fourth to steal a win and get back in the series. It was also a nice reversal for them after their historic Game 1 collapse to give the Pacers a taste of their own medicine.

Indiana is still in control of the series with a 2-1 lead going into Game 4 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. Brunson can see that and knows the Knicks can't take their foot off the gas pedal with momentum back in their favor.
