Thunder's Updated Betting Odds to Win NBA Finals After Beating Wolves in WCF Game 2
The Oklahoma City Thunder are just two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012.
The Thunder picked up another dominant win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals to take a 2-0 series lead.
But Oklahoma City has bigger goals than just a Finals appearance—the Thunder want to win it all for the first time since 1979 when they were still in Seattle. The odds are in their favor.
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, OKC has -310 odds to win the title. The Indiana Pacers sit behind them at +600, the New York Knicks are at +800 and the Wolves have the worst odds at +2000.
A championship has felt well within the realm of possibility for the Thunder since the start of the season, but after compiling an NBA-best 68-14 record, it seemed even more realistic heading into the postseason.
OKC cruised past the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round before winning a hard-fought seven-game series against the Denver Nuggets in the second round. After battling in the conference semifinals, the Thunder have returned to dominant form.
Oklahoma City set the tone for the Western Conference Finals with a 114-88 plundering of the Timberwolves in Game 1. Things weren't quite as easy in Game 2, but the Thunder still beat Minnesota 118-103 behind 38 points from newly-crowned MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The worst thing Oklahoma City can do at this point in the series is look ahead to its potential opponent in the NBA Finals, but that won't stop fans from doing so.
If the Thunder can pick up two more wins, they'll get a matchup against either the Pacers or the Knicks. While both Indiana and New York have looked great throughout the postseason, it's easy to see why OKC has been crowned the favorite to win the championship.
A lot can happen between now and the Finals—injuries, blown leads, etc.—but the Thunder are in clear championship form heading into a pivotal Game 3.
