Eagles' Saquon Barkley Says It Would Be 'Soft' to Ban Tush Push, 'It's Kind of Lame'
Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley voiced his thoughts on the proposal to ban the tush push, and he unsurprisingly was not a fan.
During an appearance on the Exciting Mics podcast recorded before Wednesday's vote to reject the proposal, Barkley didn't hold back his criticism.
"The banning thing of it, I think it's soft, to be honest, because everybody can do it," he said at the 23:40 mark. "It's not like a play that we only can do, everybody can do it. We happen to have one of the best and biggest o-lines, and Jalen Hurts can squat 600 pounds. That's not our fault."

The Eagles were among 10 teams to vote against the proposed ban at Wednesday's league meetings in Minneapolis. The proposal needed 24 votes to go into effect and fell two votes shy.
To Barkley's point, no other team in the NFL has found as much success with the tush push as the Eagles, who defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Teams like the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens are led by quarterbacks known for their dual-threat abilities, but he felt that Philadelphia shouldn't have been penalized for excelling with the play.
"Josh Allen is super big, they're not successful with it. Lamar Jackson is one of the best running quarterbacks of all time, they're not successful with it," Barkley said. "It's not something that everyone can't do, so them trying to eliminate it, I think that's kind of lame."
