Twenty-four votes were required for the measure to pass, so it was ultimately two short. The Eagles' social media team reveled in the outcome:
Team owners voted to table the issue in April, which allowed the pro- and anti-tush push camps to lobby anybody still on the fence.
ESPN's Brooke Pryor reported Monday the Packers amended their proposal to say that "offensive players cannot assist the runner except by individually blocking opponents for him." She said the wording was changed so that the rule looked more broad and not targeted to nullify advantages the Eagles and Buffalo Bills enjoyed.

Now, all of those efforts were for naught.
The Detroit Lions were the most notable franchise to align with the Eagles in the voting. The teams face off in Week 11 and could plausibly have a playoff rematch.
There could come an important moment against Detroit when Philly uses the tush push to great effect. If that happens, Lions head coach Dan Campbell might rue how his organization provided a helping hand to the reigning Super Bowl champion.
