Kevin Durant, 76ers Trade Rumors Reportedly 'Strongly Debunked' Amid Buzz on Suns Star
The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly can be removed from the list of possible trade destinations for Phoenix Suns star forward Kevin Durant this summer.
During an appearance on the PHNX Suns podcast, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Sixers are unlikely to pursue a trade for Durant this offseason.
"I know there was the chatter this week about Philly and having possible interest. When I’ve checked out that scenario, it’s been strongly debunked to me," Stein said (h/t HoopsHype). "I do not think Philly is in the market for trying to pursue Kevin Durant. So yeah, I don’t foresee the Sixers emerging as a candidate there."
Philadelphia is coming off a massively disappointing season in which it missed the playoffs after finishing with a 24-58 record. The team dealt with injuries throughout the season, most notably to star players Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George. The silver lining of the lost season is that the Sixers landed the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Stein suggested they're not looking to add another aging veteran to the mix.
Stein added that there hasn't been much progress made in finding a trade partner for Durant. He and the Suns are working together to determine his next landing spot, but it sounds like it will take some time before a deal gets done.
"Look, I think there’s really nothing new at this point," Stein said. "The consistent word on this has been that the Suns and Team Durant are going to work together on a possible resolution, if that is indeed the direction they’re going to go."
