Karl-Anthony Towns Rocks Shirt of Famous Knicks Fan at Mets vs. Yankees Game on Video

New York City can be an unforgiving sports market, but New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns is learning firsthand there's also nothing like it when times are good.

Towns received a loud ovation when he was shown on the Yankee Stadium scoreboard during the New York Yankees' 8-2 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday night.

Some in the crowd will also have reacted to KAT's choice of clothing. He wore a T-shirt with an image of the Knicks fan who had some choice words for the Boston Celtics in a viral video from 2021.

Jason Dantona, the fan in question, was thrilled by the shout-out and also got the blessing of actor Ben Stiller:

The Knicks are competing in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 after eliminating the reigning champion Boston Celtics. Judging by the celebrations in the Big Apple after a series-clinching Game 6 victory, you would've been forgiven for thinking the team already won a title.

Imagine what the city will look like if the Knicks advance to the NBA Finals and go on to lift the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.

For decades, this franchise was not only middling on the court but also failed to attract major stars despite having the advantages New York City offered. Kevin Durant summed it up perfectly in 2019 when he said, "The cool thing right now is not the Knicks."

Thanks to Towns, Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, that perception might be evolving. Being a member of the Knicks definitely looks like a lot of fun right now.
