Kevin Durant Tells Fan to 'Stop Beggin' for Him to Join Hornets amid NBA Rumors
As if there was much doubt, we can probably remove the Charlotte Hornets from the Kevin Durant sweepstakes this summer.
The Phoenix Suns star responded to one NBA fan who referenced the implosion of the Brooklyn Nets' superteam and suggested KD could make things right by going to Charlotte.
"Stop beggin. You are a grown man," Durant succinctly said.
The signs are pointing toward the 15-time All-Star playing elsewhere in 2025-26, and he'll have some leverage to pick his next destination thanks to his contract. A free agent in 2026, he can tell any franchises he doesn't like he intends to leave in a year.
The Hornets would almost certainly fall into that group. They finished 19-63 and having made playoffs since 2015-16. Few landing spots are less attractive for Durant at this stage of his career.
Trading for KD wouldn't make much sense for the Hornets, either, because they're so far from title contention. The steadily diminishing returns for the Suns is an example of how the 36-year-old can only do so much on his own.
Let this serve as a lesson for fans of other teams. Direct pleas to Durant won't work, and he'll take plenty of satisfaction from making you look foolish in front of the entire world.
