Nuggets' Aaron Gordon 'Getting Ready for Game 7' After Hamstring Injury vs. Thunder

Adam WellsMay 16, 2025

On a night when the Denver Nuggets were able to stave off elimination with a 119-107 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals, Aaron Gordon's hamstring is a key focus going into Sunday's winner-take-all matchup.

Speaking to reporters after Thursday's win, Gordon said he is starting the recovery process and "getting ready for Game 7" right away.

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter when Gordon was bringing the ball up the court when it kicked off his foot. As he was scrambling to regain control, he pulled up and started limping on the court.

Gordon stayed in the game for another 35 seconds before being replaced by Peyton Watson.

Per The Athletic's Tony Jones, Gordon was in "good spirits" and didn't have any wraps or ice on his leg in the locker room after the game.

Nuggets interim head coach David Adelman said the concern level "would be high" if Gordon couldn't play in Game 7, but he has "no idea" at this point about the status of the injury or if it might impact his availability.

Gordon played 38 minutes in Game 6, scoring just five points on 2-of-7 shooting. He did have seven rebounds and seven assists.

The trio of Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray and Christian Braun lifted the Nuggets to a season-saving win. All three players scored more than 20 points, with Jokić adding 14 rebounds and eight assists.

Murray had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists on a night when he was listed as questionable going into the game due to an illness. Braun set a new playoff career-high with 23 points.

One piece of good news for Gordon is there is an extra day off before Game 7. The Nuggets and Thunder will play at Paycom Center on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET with the winner advancing to the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
