Donovan Mitchell, Cavs Eliminated By Haliburton, Pacers as Fans Rip 1 Seed's Collapse

For the second straight season, the Cleveland Cavaliers have failed to advance past the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. And this time around, it's hard to label it as anything other than an abject failure.

The Indiana Pacers were their arbiters of doom this time around, beating the Cavs 114-105 in Tuesday's Game 5 behind Tyrese Haliburton's 31 points and eight assists.

Anyway you slice it, this was an epic choke from Cleveland. The Cavs were 64-18 in the regular season and the top overall seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. And not only were they ousted in five games by the Pacers, but they lost all three of the games played at Cleveland's Rocket Arena, much to the dismay of their fans.

Social media, as you might imagine, was not kind to the Cavs after the loss:

Donovan Mitchell did what he could in the loss after re-aggravating his sprained left ankle during Sunday's Game 4 loss, putting up 35 points, nine rebounds and four steals, though 15 of those points came from the free-throw line and he shot just 8-of-25 from the floor and missed six attempts from the charity stripe.

Evan Mobley added 24 points and 11 boards, but no other Cleveland player scored more than 12 points, including Darius Garland (11 points, 4-of-16 from the field).

The Pacers simply got more help from their supporting cast. Pascal Siakam had 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Andrew Nembhard had 18 points and six dimes. Aaron Nesmith had 13 points and 13 boards.

As a team, the Pacers had 26 assists. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, had just 10.

This was a team win from the Pacers. And for the Cavaliers, it was an absolute choke job. The Cavaliers are going to have to look long and hard in the mirror this summer because, at this point, it's questionable whether this current roster composition is capable of making a championship run.
