LeBron James, More Players React to Mavs Getting No. 1 Pick in NBA Draft Lottery
The Dallas Mavericks secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft after winning the draft lottery Monday, positioning them to land top prospect Cooper Flagg.
Dallas entered the lottery with the 11th-best odds of landing the No. 1 pick, holding just a 1.8 percent chance. This marks the first time in franchise history that the Mavericks have won the NBA Draft Lottery.
Players reacted to the Mavericks landing the top pick:
Here is a look at the 14 lottery picks:
1. Dallas Mavericks
2. San Antonio Spurs
3. Philadelphia 76ers
4. Charlotte Hornets
5. Utah Jazz
6. Washington Wizards
7. New Orleans Pelicans
8. Brooklyn Nets
9. Toronto Raptors
10. Houston Rockets
11. Portland Trail Blazers
12. Chicago Bulls
13. Atlanta Hawks
14. San Antonio Spurs
Utah, Washington and Charlotte all entered with the highest odds at 14.0 percent, followed by New Orleans (12.5) and Philadelphia (10.5).
Only three teams in the top 14 had lower odds than the Mavericks: the Chicago Bulls (1.7), Sacramento Kings (0.8) and Atlanta Hawks (0.7).
It appears that the Mavericks trading away Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers midseason may not come back to haunt them, as they now prepare to bring in Flagg—a prospect whose playing style and two-way versatility mirrors Dončić in more ways than one.
Dallas is quickly becoming a hub for top basketball talent, with the Mavericks landing the No. 1 pick and the WNBA’s Dallas Wings recently selecting UConn star Paige Bueckers with the top overall pick.
