76ers Reportedly Eye New Guerschon Yabusele Contract in 2025 NBA Free Agency

Taylyn Hadley May 11, 2025

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to re-sign forward Guerschon Yabusele, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.

The Sixers will need to create financial flexibility to bring back the French forward, who played last season on a veteran minimum deal. Stein and Fischer noted that Yabusele was a "significant motivator" in the team's decision to cut costs at the 2025 NBA trade deadline.

Yabusele averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the 76ers during a difficult 24-58 season.

Originally drafted by the Boston Celtics with the No. 16 overall pick in 2016, Yabusele played just two seasons in the NBA before spending several years in the EuroLeague. He made his return to the league last season after a standout Olympic run with France that culminated in a silver medal in 2024.

The 29-year-old signed with Philadelphia in August and went on to start 43 games, carving out a key role on a rebuilding roster. His potential return hinges on the team’s ability to create cap space to re-sign him.

The 76ers are expected to make several key changes this offseason following their worst season in nearly a decade.

President of basketball operations Daryl Morey acknowledged missteps in the team's 2024-25 roster construction, including an overreliance on veteran players that ultimately hindered development.

“Last season was pretty clear, and I put this on me,” Morey told 97.5 The Fanatic. "My thinking there was, how do I get this group healthy and into the playoffs? How do I have playoff-level players, and generally, those are players with playoff experience, the ones that sort of round out, can shoot, and things like that."

“Our rotation is going to be guys 25 and younger,” he added. “Like, the majority of our rotation will be there.”
