Joe Mazzulla Talks Celtics 'Challenge' Down 0-2 vs. Knicks, 'Just Gotta Figure It out'
The Boston Celtics are facing a 2-0 series deficit after blowing yet another second-half lead against the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
But if there's one coach in the NBA who embraces adversity, it's Boston's Joe Mazzulla. He said after the loss that he knows what lies ahead for the defending champs.
"We have a challenge ahead of us, and we have a chance to go after it, and we don't really have a choice," Mazzulla told reporters. "Just gotta figure it out."
Making the challenge of coming back even harder is the fact that the Celtics will have to do it on the road.
“You're down 2-0, heading on the road," Mazzulla said. "You have an understanding of your environment… Gotta go on the road and find a way to win.”
After the first two games of the series, it's clear Boston needs a new plan of attack. The Celtics have relied heavily on the three, and it's not working out. They shot 15-of-60 from deep in Game 1 before shooting 10-of-40 on Wednesday.
If the shots were falling, Boston would be more than fine relying on the three, but that has been far from the case through the first two games. It will only get harder to make shots when the Celtics have to do it in front of a rowdy crowd at Madison Square Garden.
