Buddy Hield Blames Jimmy Butler for Uniform Mistake in Warriors' Game 1 Win vs. Wolves

Before Buddy Hield came to the rescue in the second straight playoff game for the Golden State Warriors, he had a brief wardrobe hiccup after putting on the wrong shorts that resulted in his team being hit with a delay of game.

In the first minute of Western Conference semifinals Game 1 on Tuesday, the Warriors had to burn a timeout, and Hield was called for delay of game when Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch pointed out to the official he was wearing the wrong shorts.

Hield ran to the locker room to put on the correct pair before returning to the game. He joked after the game that Jimmy Butler caused the situation by switching out his shorts at his locker when he was getting ready.

Despite the wardrobe malfunction, Hield continued his hot streak that began in Game 7 of the first round against the Houston Rockets on Sunday. He scored a playoff career-high 33 points and tied the NBA playoff record by making nine threes in Golden State's 103-89 win.

With Stephen Curry limited to just 13 minutes on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury, Hield stepped up once again. He scored a game-high 24 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting in 40 minutes to lead Golden State to a 99-88 victory.

Butler, who played 41 minutes, was the only Warriors player who was on the court more than Hield against the Timberwolves.

If all it takes to get Hield to play at a high level in the playoffs is mixing up his wardrobe, the Warriors might want to have Butler hanging around his locker with the wrong pair of shorts before each game.
