Buddy Hield Says He Was Batman, Jimmy Butler Was 'Still Robin' for Warriors in Game 1
The Golden State Warriors' Buddy Hield and Jimmy Butler continue to play the best two-man game on the microphone during the 2025 NBA playoffs.
Hield had a game-high 24 points and hit five threes as the Warriors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-88 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals Tuesday night. He quipped after game that he was Batman on the court because he "saved the day," adding that Butler was "still Robin."
Butler and Hield have gone back and forth over the last few days, arguing over which character in the Batman canon they represent. Hield suggested the six-time All-Star is clearly Alfred, given his last name.
The dynamic is an example of how Butler's impact in the Bay Area goes beyond the raw numbers. In addition to the 18.6 points and 5.3 assists he's averaging in the playoffs, his presence has had an uplifting effect.
The atmosphere inside Golden State's locker room is certainly a marked contrast to the toxic situation preceding Butler's departure from the Miami Heat.
With Stephen Curry battling a hamstring strain, the Warriors need him to be even more of a tone-setter on and off the court in this series.
