Jalen Brunson, Knicks Amaze NBA Fans with Epic Comeback in Game 1 OT Win vs. Celtics

The New York Knicks may have been down but they were never out.

After entering halftime with a 15-point deficit, the Knicks rallied to outscore the Celtics 63-44 the rest of the way to claim a 108-105 overtime victory.

New York trailed by as many as 20 in the second half before stealing the victory. Jalen Brunson once again thrived in the fourth quarter, continuing his historic playoff run:

The Celtics entered the game as a favorite but a bad shooting night doomed them. The team went a putrid 15-of-60 from beyond the arc, with stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combining to go 14-of-43.

The Knicks, meanwhile, went 17-of-37 from three-point range and benefitted from a much more balanced shooting night. OG Anunoby and Brunson co-led New York with 29 points each while Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart each had 14.

Fans took to social media to praise the Knicks comeback effort and predict the chances at upsetting the Celtics in the series.

The Celtics had not lost a home playoff game since the second round of the 2023-24 postseason. This is also the first time the Celtics have trailed in a series since they lost the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semi-finals in 2022-23.

New York beat the Celtics for the first time in 2024-25 after going 0-4 against Boston in the regular season.

While it was a major step in the right direction, knocking down the defending champions is still a daunting task for a Knicks franchise that hasn't advanced past the second round since the 1999-2000 season.
