Knicks' Josh Hart Admits to Making Contact with Tim Hardaway Jr. on Pistons' Last Shot

The New York Knicks escaped with a 94-93 win over the Detroit Pistons in Game 4 of the first round on Sunday, but Josh Hart admitted that he might have committed a foul on the final play of the game.

While he didn't say whether he fouled Tim Hardaway on a last-second three-point attempt, Hart said he made contact with him.

"Did I make contact with him? Yeah, I made contact with him," Hart said. "Was it legal? I don't know. We'll let the two-minute report say that. He shot faked, I felt like I kind of got there, I feel like I was straight up and he kind of jumped into me trying to get the shot up."

While Hart was unsure whether he made enough contact to warrant a foul, crew chief David Guthrie clarified in the pool report after the game that a foul should have been called.

"During live play, it was judged that Josh Hart made a legal defensive play," Guthrie told the Detroit News' Coty Davis (h/t SNY's Ian Begley). "After postgame review, we observed that Hart makes body contact that is more than marginal to Hardaway Jr. and a foul should have been called."

The non-call proved to be consequential as Hardaway would have had the chance to give the Pistons the lead or tie the game and send things into overtime. Instead, New York extended the series lead to 3-1 and can advance to the second round with a win at home on Tuesday.

Knicks star Jalen Brunson led the way for his squad, posting 32 points and 11 assists while shaking off an apparent injury. Karl-Anthony Towns added 27 points and nine boards while Hart had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pistons got another outstanding game from young star Cade Cunningham, who had 25 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to even the series.
