NBA Playoff Standings 2025 for Final Regular-Season Records, Seedings and Bracket

Joe TanseyApr 13, 2025

The path to the NBA Finals is set.

Sunday's drama ended with the LA Clippers' overtime win over the Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers secured the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference and sent the Warriors into the play-in round.

Golden State is the most notable team in the play-in round field. The Warriors and Orlando Magic will each receive two shots to make the playoffs.

At the top, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder own home-court advantage throughout their respective conference playoffs.

Cleveland and OKC will learn their opponents on Friday, while the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets face the winners of Tuesday's play-in games.

Eastern Conference

1 of 2
Chicago Bulls v Cleveland Cavaliers
  1. Cleveland (64-18)
  2. Boston (61-21)
  3. New York (51-31)
  4. Indiana (50-32)
  5. Milwaukee (48-34)
  6. Detroit (44-38)
  7. Orlando (41-41)
  8. Atlanta (40-42)
  9. Chicago (39-43)
  10. Miami (37-45)

Everything in the Eastern Conference was determined prior to Sunday’s games.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the top seed, but many will see the Boston Celtics as the favorite to win the East because they are the reigning champion.

Boston and Cleveland will learn their first-round opponents later this week during the play-in round.

The Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks face off in the No. 7-versus-No. 8 game, while the Chicago Bulls host the Miami Heat in the No. 9-versus-No. 10 contest.

The Orlando-Atlanta winner will head to Boston to begin the first round next weekend, while the loser of the Magic-Hawks game faces the Bulls-Heat winner with a spot to face the Cavs on the line.

Two East matchups are set. The New York Knicks take on the Detroit Pistons, while the Indiana Pacers square off with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Pistons won the season series against the Knicks 3-1, while the Bucks won four of the five regular-season meetings with the Pacers.

Western Conference

2 of 2
Los Angeles Lakers v Oklahoma City Thunder
  1. Oklahoma City (68-14)
  2. Houston (52-30)
  3. Los Angeles Lakers (50-32)
  4. Denver (50-32)
  5. LA Clippers (50-32)
  6. Minnesota (49-33)
  7. Golden State (48-34)
  8. Memphis (48-34)
  9. Sacramento (40-42)
  10. Dallas (39-43)

The Clippers held on in overtime to win Sunday's most consequential game in the NBA.

The victory placed James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Co. into a first-round showdown with Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

Golden State dropped down to seventh in the West, which means it will host the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in round on Tuesday.

The Golden State-Memphis winner will face the upstart Houston Rockets in the first round.

The Warriors-Grizzlies loser faces the Sacramento-Dallas winner for the right to play OKC in the opening round.

The other known opening-round matchup pits LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers and Wolves split the regular-season series, but only one game, a Lakers win on February 27, took place after the Doncic trade.
