2025 NBA Playoff Picture, Play-in Standings and Bracket Predictions After April 6

The Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers made the biggest playoff impacts on Sunday.

Houston went into the Bay Area and ended the Golden State Warriors' winning streak, the Lakers upset the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana knocked off the Denver Nuggets on the road.

The losses suffered by Denver and Golden State leveled the playing field in the Western Conference race for the No. 4 seed.

There is currently no separation between the Nuggets, Warriors, LA Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies.

The drama could be limited to the play-in spots in the Eastern Conference if the Milwaukee Bucks take care of business ahead of their season-ending set with the Detroit Pistons.

Milwaukee left the weekend with a one-game advantage over the Pistons for the East's No. 5 seed.

Eastern Conference

1 of 2
Utah Jazz v Indiana Pacers
  1. Cleveland (62-16)
  2. Boston (58-20)
  3. New York (50-28)
  4. Indiana (47-31)
  5. Milwaukee (44-34)
  6. Detroit (43-35)
  7. Orlando (38-40)
  8. Atlanta (37-41)
  9. Chicago (36-42)
  10. Miami (35-43)

Indiana's road win in Denver almost assured it of a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers own a three-game edge over the Bucks with four games left on their schedule. A Tuesday win over the Washington Wizards locks the Pacers into the No. 4 seed.

Milwaukee is working to fend off Detroit for the No. 5 seed. The Bucks moved their advantage to one full game with a Sunday win in New Orleans.

The Bucks play the Wolves and Pelicans prior to their two-game season-closing set against the Pistons.

Detroit has Sacramento and New York prior to its Friday and Sunday clashes with Milwaukee.

Milwaukee has the easier stretch before Friday, so as long as it has a one-game edge, it needs to go 1-1 versus Detroit to clinch the No. 5 seed.

Orlando and Atlanta have two games left against each other on Tuesday and Sunday. The Magic have to face Boston and Indiana in between those contests, while the Hawks have Brooklyn and Philadelphia.

The Magic and Hawks split the first two games of their regular-season series, so the head-to-head tiebreaker is still up for grabs as well.

Atlanta's easier schedule in between those contests may help it, as long as it can go into central Florida and win on Tuesday.

Chicago can put pressure on both the Magic and Hawks since it closes with the Wizards and Sixers, but at minimum, the Bulls should be the No. 9 seed.

Bracket Predictions

Play-In: No. 10 Miami vs. No. 9 Chicago

Play-In: No. 8 Atlanta vs. No. 7 Orlando

No. 8 Atlanta vs. No. 1 Cleveland

No. 7 Orlando vs. No. 2 Boston

No. 6 Detroit vs. No. 3 New York

No. 5 Milwaukee vs. No. 4 Indiana

Western Conference

2 of 2
Houston Rockets v Golden State Warriors
  1. Oklahoma City (64-14)
  2. Houston (52-27)
  3. Los Angeles Lakers (48-30)
  4. Denver (47-32)
  5. LA Clippers (46-32)
  6. Golden State (46-32)
  7. Minnesota (46-32)
  8. Memphis (46-32)
  9. Sacramento (38-40)
  10. Dallas (38-41)
  11. Phoenix (35-43)

Denver and Golden State's losses on Sunday made the West playoff race look even more congested than it was going into the weekend.

The Warriors, Clippers, Wolves and Grizzlies all have the same record entering Monday.

The Los Angeles Lakers were Sunday's biggest winner in the West. Their road triumph over OKC moved them 1.5 games ahead of the Clippers in fifth place.

That might be enough for the Lakers to hold on to a top-four position. They play OKC again on Tuesday, but the Thunder have nothing to play for with the No. 1 seed locked up.

The Lakers can beat Dallas and Portland and not have to worry about Friday's game versus Houston affecting their playoff position.

The Clippers and Grizzlies should win on Tuesday against San Antonio and Charlotte, so all the pressure will be on Golden State in Phoenix and Minnesota on the road in Milwaukee to keep up.

Denver doesn't play again until Wednesday in Sacramento.

The fourth through eighth spots will change hands multiple times between Tuesday and Sunday.

All of Sunday's final Western Conference games will be played at the same time. That's likely when some actual clarity will be provided.

Bracket Prediction

Play-In: No. 10 Sacramento vs. No. 9 Dallas

Play-In: No. 8 Memphis vs. No. 7 Minnesota

No. 8 Memphis vs. No. 1 OKC

No. 7 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Houston

No. 6 LA Clippers vs. No. 3 Los Angeles Lakers

No. 5 Golden State vs. No. 4 Denver
