New York selected the ex-Michigan star with the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He's mixed between being a starter and a key reserve throughout his career.
Detroit acquired him and three second-round draft picks from the Dallas Mavericks for Quentin Grimes. He was on the final season of a four-year, $75 million contract.
Last season, Hardaway averaged 11.0 points on 40.6 percent shooting (36.8 percent from three-point range) for the Pistons.
He started 77 games for a team that improved from 14 to 44 wins and made the playoffs as a No. 6 seed, losing a hard-fought first-round series in six games to the New York Knicks.
However, Hardaway is now moving on as he's parlayed his successful 2024-25 season into a new deal.
