Thunder's Odds to Win 70-Plus Games During 2024-25 NBA Regular Season Revealed

The Oklahoma City Thunder are eight wins away from becoming just the third team in NBA history to hit the 70-win threshold in the regular season.

They would need to be a perfect 8-0 down the stretch to pull off the feat, however, and the odds for them doing so are pretty long.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Thunder are currently +430 to pull off the feat:

One point in the Thunder's favor is that they have gone on some major win streaks this season.

Between mid-December and early January, the team rattled off 10 straight victories. And the team is currently on a nine-game win streak. The Thunder have also come close to pulling off eight straight wins a number of times, with three seven-game win streaks this season.

Outside of chasing a slice of history, however, what incentive do the Thunder really have for chasing 70 wins?

The team has already secured the top overall seed in the Western Conference playoffs, though they only hold a 2.5-game lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers for the top record in basketball. Perhaps securing the guarantee of homecourt advantage in the NBA Finals, should the Thunder get that far, will incentivize them to keep stockpiling wins down the stretch.

At some point, though, getting the starters a bit of rest before the postseason would make sense. It's hard to imagine 70 wins but no title at the end of it would be remembered fondly in the locker room, especially if a late-season injury plays a part in a playoff disappointment. That alone puts them in danger of losing a game or two down the stretch, at least.

These Thunder continue to exceed expectations at every turn, however. And if they truly have 70 wins in their sights as a goal they want to achieve, bet against them at your own peril.
