Michigan's Jace Howard Reportedly Enters Transfer Portal, Son of Former HC Juwan

Michigan Wolverines guard Jace Howard is entering the transfer portal, according to 247Sports' Travis Branham.

Howard, who logged five appearances in 2024-25, is the son of former Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard.

Between his limited role and the fact his dad is no longer coaching the team, it's little surprise Howard is exploring his options.

The 6'7" senior is unlikely to be a prospect who's coveted by the top schools in the country. He was a 3-star recruit and the No. 389 overall player in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2020 class coming out of high school. His on-court production is similarly lackluster as he averaged 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 70 appearances with the Wolverines.

And unlike when he first signed with Michigan, there isn't a clear landing spot for Howard based on where his dad is working. Following his firing, Juwan took a job on the Brooklyn Nets' staff for the 2024-25 season.

Still, Howard clearly needed a change of scenery. Assuming he receives a sixth year of eligibility, he'll have the opportunity to end his college career on a high note.
