NIT Tournament 2025 Bracket, Schedule, and Men's Semifinals Predictions

Nicholas NathansonMar 30, 2025

After a thrilling quarterfinal slate that featured three of four games decided by four points or less, the 2025 NIT Tournament is down to its final four teams.

And there is a lot at stake, to say the least.

Of the four teams remaining, UC Irvine and Chattanooga are both vying to reach the NIT tournament final for the first time in program history, while Loyola Chicago has not reached the NIT final since 1949.

North Texas, on the other hand, is striving to secure its second NIT championship in three years.

Below, you can find everything you need from tip-off times to ultimate predictions for both semifinal matchups.

UAB v North Texas

The last few days for North Texas have been quite unique.

On Tuesday, the Mean Green were supposed to host Oklahoma State in the NIT Quarterfinal but were forced to play on the road due to a previously scheduled staff appreciation luncheon that conflicted with the game.

Then, on Wednesday, West Virginia named North Texas' head coach, Ross Hodge, as their next basketball coach.

Despite all the distractions, North Texas has reached the NIT semifinal for the second time in the past three years.

However, a formidable UC Irvine squad lies ahead.

The Ant Eaters have won nine of their last 10 games, including their most recent NIT quarterfinal overtime victory against UAB.

UC Irvine's defense should be able to keep them in the game, considering they are 19th in defensive efficiency per KenPom and rank 10th in opposing shooting percentage.

Though it is expected that North Texas will emerge victorious given their strong guard play from Atin Wright and Jasper Floyd.

Prediction: North Texas over UC Irvine

Chattanooga vs. Loyola Chicago

Loyola v VCU

Tuesday, 9:30 p.m ET, ESPN

Chattanooga enters the semifinal at Hinkle Fieldhouse as one of the hottest teams in the nation.

The Mocs have won 14 of their last 15, including a thrilling triple-overtime victory at Middle Tennessee State in the opening round of the tournament.

Of the four teams left, the Mocs are the only team to rank in the top 50 in offensive efficiency, per KenPom, boasting a trio of guards: Honor Huff, Trey Bonham, and Bash Wieland, all averaging at least 14 points per game.

Chattanooga averages just below 80 points per game while shooting 48.1 from the field.

Conversely, Loyola Chicago's identity is synonymous with its defense.

In order to emerge victorious, the Ramblers must control the tempo and maintain a low-scoring game.

However, slowing down the Mocs is easier said than done.

Chattanooga has scored at least 75 points in 14 of their last 15 games and has earned impressive tournament victories over Dayton and Bradley.

Prediction: Chattanooga over Loyola Chicago
