Drew Timme Jokes About Love for March After Nets Contract, 50-Point G League Game
Former Gonzaga star Drew Timme discussed his love for the month of March on Friday after signing a multi-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
Speaking to reporters for the first time since joining the team, Timme noted all the great things that have happened for him this month, including dropping a career-high 50 points during a G League game last week:

March success isn't new to Timme, as he thrived during March Madness while at Gonzaga, leading the Bulldogs to a National Championship Game appearance in 2021, as well as a trip to the Elite Eight in 2023.
Over the course of his four seasons at Gonzaga, Timme averaged 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 61.8 percent from the field.
The 6'10", 230-pound forward was a multi-time All-American, as well as a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year and the 2023 West Coast Conference tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Despite his collegiate accomplishments, Timme was not selected in the 2023 NBA draft, and he has spent the past two seasons in the G League with the Wisconsin Herd and Long Island Nets.
Prior to signing an NBA deal with the Brooklyn Nets, Timme was tearing up the G League this season, averaging 23.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest.
Timme noted Friday that the Nets signing him took him by surprise, as he was playing a video game when he got the call:
The Nets are firmly in rebuild mode this season, trading away the likes of Dorian Finney-Smith and Dennis Schröder, plus Cam Thomas, Nic Claxton, D'Angelo Russell and Day'Ron Sharpe are all dealing with injuries.
That opened the door for Timme to play extensively in his NBA debut on Friday, and he delivered.
Over 25 minutes, Timme posted a double-double, scoring 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds and one assist.
Given his performance and the fact that the Nets are struggling to stay healthy, Timme figures to get plenty of opportunities to impress over the final eight games of the regular season.
If he does, it could potentially lead to a significant rotation spot for him during the 2025-26 campaign.
