Elite 8 2025 Updated Bracket and Full Schedule for Men's NCAA Tournament

Kristopher KnoxMar 28, 2025

The 2025 NCAA men's basketball tournament field is shrinking by the day. Four teams punched their tickets to the Elite Eight on Thursday, and eight teams will have their chance to do the same on Friday evening.

This year's tournament has largely gone as scripted with few upsets along the way. That trend continued on Thursday, as all four higher-seeded teams—Alabama, Florida, Duke and Texas Tech—took home victories.

The rest of the Sweet 16 will unfold on Friday before the Elite Eight kicks off on Saturday.

Here's a look at what to expect in the next few days, along with the full schedule for the remainder of the 2025 tournament.

Preview for Friday and Saturday

UCLA v Tennessee

The second half of the Sweet 16 will unfold on Friday. While most of Thursday's slate featured relatively lopsided contests, fans should be treated to some really tight matchups on Friday.

The Mississippi and Michigan State matchup, for example, should showcase a fun battle on the perimeter. Mississippi has shot very well from range during the tournament and hit 11 of 19 three-point attempts in its game against Iowa State. The Spartans, however, have held opponents to an NCAA-low 27.8-percent three-point rate.

The Tennessee and Kentucky matcup will be a No. 2 versus No. 3 battle between SEC rivals. This will mark the third time these two schools have met this season, with the Wildcats holding a 2-0 advantage.

The Auburn and Michigan game could be won by the team that best uses size to its advantage. Auburn's Johni Broome (6'10", 235 lbs) is a talented big in his own right. However, Michigan boasts a pair of seven-footers in Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin.

"I'd like to think it's two of the best frontcourts in the country," Wolf said, per Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press.

Fourth-seeded Purdue might have the best chance of pulling off a legitimate upset on Friday, in part, because of a location advantage. That game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, which is just over an hour away from Purdue's West Lafayette campus.

The Boilermakers also have a wealth of experience at this stage, having advanced all the way to the championship game as a No. 1 seed in 2024.

"They've been to a level that proves what a great program Purdue is," Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said, per Sam King of the Lafayette Journal & Courier.

Mississippi, Purdue and Michigan are now the only teams seeded lower than third with a chance to reach the Elite Eight. Based on the way the tournament has gone thus far, there's a real chance that third-seeded Texas Tech will be the biggest underdog left standing on Saturday.

The first Elite Eight games are already set for Saturday, with the Red Raiders to face No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Alabama to battle No. 1 Duke.

Florida, led by Walter Clayton Jr., has won nine straight and is coming off of a 16-point win over Maryland. Texas Tech, meanwhile, needed to rally from 16 down to overtake Arkansas in overtime.

On paper, this is a game that favors the Gators, but there's something to be said for knowing how to win close games. It's also worth noting that Florida committed 17 turnovers on Thursday. A repeat performance could give Texas Tech a real opening.

Duke, led by presumptive No. 1 NBA pick Cooper Flagg, has impressed throughout the tournament. Its win over Arizona wasn't as close as the final score might indicate.

The Crimson Tide, however, are fully capable of advancing. Like Flagg, Mark Sears has been on eo the biggest stars of the tournament and is coming off of a 34-point game.

Alabama made a tournament-record 25 three-pointers in Thursday's win over BYU.

Duke and Alabama is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated matchups of the tournament, though fans can probably expect every Elite Eight contest to be spectacular.
