Schefter Expects Giants, Browns to Keep Trying to Trade for Titans' No. 1 Draft Pick

Andrew PetersMar 26, 2025

The Tennessee Titans seem content with holding on to their No. 1 draft pick and selecting Miami's Cam Ward, but the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants will reportedly continue trying to trade for the top pick.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that he expects the Browns and Giants to continue making calls to the Titans.

"Well you also heard the Titans GM Mike Borgonzi say that he's open to anything. And so he's going to be listening to phone calls. That doesn't mean that the Giants will be able to make it up to 1," Schefter said on NFL Live. "I expect the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants both to make calls and let's see if there's a team that can come up with an offer that the Titans can't pass up. Yes, the Titans absolutely do like Cam Ward. Yes, they're ready to take him. But these teams have one month to change Tennessee's mind and make an offer compelling enough to move Tennessee, which has a ton of holes on its roster, off the No. 1 pick."

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported earlier this month that the Titans have grown "pretty comfortable" with Ward leading up to the draft. As comfortable as they may be, general manager Mike Borgonzi clarified that there are no cut-and-dry plans just yet.

"I would say everything is still on the table," Borgonzi said this week at Miami's pro day, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site. "From the beginning I said I wanted to go through the whole process, and I felt like our priority was to build the offensive line first, and we added (tackle) Dan Moore and (guard) Kevin Zeitler.

"Now we're going through the process here with the college quarterbacks. But I'd say everything is still on the table right now."

Drafting Ward seems like the most logical option for Tennessee this offseason. The Titans likely won't keep Will Levis under center again in 2025, and their quarterback options are pretty limited in free agency at this point.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department projects the Titans to keep their No. 1 pick and draft Ward.

That being said, missing out on the top quarterback in this year's class wouldn't be as consequential as missing out on one of the top quarterbacks from last year's class. Ward had an outstanding collegiate career, but he's not considered to be as good a prospect as Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye, the top three picks in 2024.

Tennessee could trade away its top pick and fill other needs through the draft, but that would still leave the Titans without a great quarterback option for the 2025 season.
