Kevin Seraphin Reportedly Signs 1-Year Contract with New York Knicks

Kevin Seraphin has played the entirety of his five-year NBA career with the Washington Wizards, but the power forward will reportedly join the New York Knicks on a one-year, $2.8 million deal, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Sheridan Hoops' Michael Scotto reported on July 7 that the Dallas Mavericks had "expressed interest" in Seraphin, while the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns and Wizards had done the same. 

Seraphin is no stranger to free agency. Last summer he accepted a one-year, $3.8 million qualifying offer from the Wizards as a restricted free agent.

In 79 appearances last season, Seraphin averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.7 blocks while shooting 51.3 percent from the field. He also drilled a career-best 70.1 percent of his shots inside of three feet, looks that accounted for 46.9 percent of his field-goal attempts, according to Basketball-Reference.com.

While the Wizards have done plenty of work to get smaller and more versatile this summer by adding swingmen such as Jared Dudley (6'7") and Alan Anderson (6'6")—who agreed to a deal with Washington in July, per Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski—Seraphin is a steady role player who can chip in easy buckets and help fortify the team's interior defense.
