Report: Steph Curry to Rejoin Warriors After Pelvic Injury, Status vs. Heat Still TBD
Stephen Curry is rejoining the Golden State Warriors in Miami after staying away from the team to receive treatment for the pelvic injury he suffered last Thursday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Curry's availability for Tuesday's game against the Heat will depend on how he responds to treatment, per Charania.
Curry did not travel with the Warriors to Atlanta ahead of Saturday's loss to the Hawks.
He originally left Thursday's win over the Toronto Raptors after suffering a hard fall in the third quarter.
The Warriors initially identified Curry's injury as a "pelvic contusion" with "no structural damage." Charania's latest report identified the injury specifically as a "pelvic bruise."
The team said Friday that Curry would not travel to Atlanta for Saturday's game, but that his injury would be reevaluated on Monday.
The Warriors are currently one contest into a six-game road trip, with Tuesday's game against Miami set to be followed by trips to New Orleans, San Antonio, Memphis and Los Angeles.
The 11-game stretch remaining in the Warriors' regular season could determine whether or not the team has to fight through the play-in tournament in order to make the postseason.
Curry, who has played 60 of the Warriors' 71 games so far this season, is leading the NBA in three-pointers made per game (4.4) for the second straight campaign.
His team entered Sunday as the No. 6 seed, but the Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves each sit within half a game of leapfrogging the Warriors for the final guaranteed playoff spot in the West.
Tuesday's game will mark Jimmy Butler's first time meeting up with the Miami Heat since his contentious split from the team resulted in him getting suspended three separate times before his deadline trade to the Warriors.
Getting Curry back in time for the matchup will both improve the Warriors' chances of staying out of the play-in round and Butler's odds of celebrating the reunion with a Golden State victory.
