Nikola Jokic to Return from Ankle Injury 'at Some Point' During Nuggets' Homestand
Nikola Jokic is slated to miss his fourth straight game on Sunday against the Houston Rockets due to an ankle injury but is expected to return "at some point" during the Denver Nuggets' five-game homestand, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
The team will return from Houston and face the Chicago Bulls on Monday night to cap off a back-to-back, but Jokic is not expected to be ready for that matchup, head coach Michael Malone told reporters on Sunday.
Jokic has not played since the Nuggets' 126-123 loss to the Washington Wizards on March 15, where he posted a near triple-double with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists in the loss.
The big man was initially ruled out of the Nuggets' game against the Golden State Warriors on March 17 due to an elbow injury before missing additional time with an ankle injury.
Good news for the Nuggets, as Aaron Gordon is available to play on Sunday after missing several games over the past couple of weeks with lower leg issues. Jamal Murray is also good to go after returning from a two-game absence on Friday due to an ankle injury.
Jokic has been averaging a triple-double this season with 29.1 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.3 assists while shooting 57.5 percent from the field. He is battling for his second back-to-back MVP season and fourth overall.
The Nuggets will kick off their homestand on Monday against the Bulls, followed by games against Milwaukee on Wednesday, Utah on Friday, Minnesota on April 1 and finishing it off against San Antonio on April 2.
