College Basketball Crown 2025: Bracket, Schedule, TV Info, More for MCBB Tournament
The field is set for the 2025 College Basketball Crown, the postseason tournament for men's teams who didn't get into the NCAA tournament and a new alternative to the NIT.
The inaugural Crown will be contested this year between Monday, March 31 and Sunday, April 6. The first two rounds will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, while the semifinals and final will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The 16 teams that will be participating in the Crown are Washington State, Georgetown, Boise State, George Washington, Oregon State, Villanova, USC, Arizona State, Cincinnati, DePaul, Butler, Nebraska, UCF, Colorado, Utah and Tulane.
Here's a look at the bracket:
The first two rounds will be entirely broadcast on FS1, while the semifinals and final will be shown on FOX.
The Crown gives automatic berths to the top two teams in NET rankings from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East who didn't qualify for the NCAA tournament, and those schools are contractually obligated to either participate in the Crown or not take part in any postseason tournament.
So Ohio State, for instance, is not eligible for any other tourney after declining its invitation to the Crown. In fact, no Big Ten teams are in this year's 32-team field for the NIT.
The existence of the Crown has given the NIT a far more defined mid-major vibe. It will be interesting to see which tournament ultimately offers a more compelling alternative to the main dish of men's postseason college basketball, March Madness, for hoop junkies.
