Michigan clinched the win at the free-throw line after making multiple defensive stops with the score tied 53-53 and just under a minute remaining in the second half.
First, transfer forward Vladislav Goldin hit two free throws to break the tie and give the Wolverines an advantage. Following a pair of missed shots from Wisconsin guard John Blackwell, Michigan guard Tre Donaldson connected on two more free throws to push the lead to four points.
Wisconsin couldn't overcome the deficit before the final buzzer sounded.
Fans and former coaches alike were impressed with the effort from head coach Dusty May's squad, predicting the Wolverines to contend in the NCAA Tournament.
Sunday's result was especially disappointing for Wisconsin after it led by as many as 11 points in the second half. Sixth-year guard John Tonje, Wisconsin's leading scorer entering the contest, finished with just nine points and hit one of his 14 field-goal attempts.
The Badgers put together a strong performance throughout their 2024-25 campaign, but Michigan emerged victorious in the conference tournament championship clash.
