Virginia Tech's Lawal on MCBB Season: 'We Were Still Ass, But...We Weren't That Bad'
Virginia Tech's Tobi Lawal had offered an epic and hilarious quote when asked to evaluate his team's 2024-25 season.
"My team, I'm proud of how far we came," he told reporters. "What did they have us in the preseason? Maybe 14th or 15th? They thought we were going to be ass. I mean, we were still ass, but we weren't that bad. You know what I'm saying? We beat expectations."

The Hokies saw their season end on Tuesday with a 82-73 double-overtime loss against California in the first round of the ACC tournament. Virginia Tech finished 13-19 on the season, though the team's 8-12 record in conference play left them in a five-way tie for ninth in the ACC and the No. 10 seed in the conference tourney.
Virginia Tech was predicted to finish 14th in the conference this season by a select media panel.
Lawal, a junior, led Virginia Tech in scoring (12.4 PPG) and rebounding (7.0 RPG), shooting 55.9 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three. He was the Hokies best player this past season, and apparently he's the best quote on the team, too.
