Filling out a bracket online is the most common option these days, but there's something special about printing out a bracket and filling it out by hand. For those interested in the latter, a printable bracket can be found here.
The NCAA tournament is different from nearly every major sports championship in the fact that almost every year there are a handful of shocking upsets. Given all the bracket-busters, is practically impossible to predict the right champion, but there are a few teams who seem to have a better shot than others.
One of those teams is the Cooper Flagg-led Duke, which is having its best season of the Jon Scheyer era. The Blue Devils finished 28-3 in the regular season and coasted through conference play, ending the year 19-1 against ACC squads.
Flagg, who will likely be the No. 1 pick in this year's NBA draft should he choose to forgo his college eligibility, is averaging 19.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and is looking to end his freshman season with a win.
Duke sat near the top of KenPom's net ratings for most of the year and ended the regular season as the top team, boasting the No. 2 offensive rating and No. 4 defensive rating. It's hard to find a team better equipped to win a championship than the one that plays in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
As good as Duke has been, it's hard to count out any of the top teams from a loaded SEC.
Auburn, the top overall seed, spent much of the second half of the year as the No. 1 team in the country, though they fell to No. 3 after two losses to end the regular season. Still, Bruce Pearl's squad, led by National Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome, is more than capable of making a title run.
Other SEC squads like Florida, Tennessee and Alabama, all of whom reside in KenPom's top-10, have the renderings of a championship team as well.
Houston shook off three early-season losses and dominated conference play, finishing 27-4 overall and 19-1 against Big 12 teams. The Cougars' March Madness run ended in the Sweet 16 a year ago when Jamal Shead suffered an injury against Duke, and the team will be looking to avenge that loss this year.
Picking a Cinderella team to make a run is just as hard as picking a champion, but a few teams stand out from the field. Drake, led by first-year coach Ben McCollum, finished the regular season 27-3 and 17-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They'll be gunning for a round-one upset this week.
UC San Diego also isn't a bad pick, as the Tritons finished the regular season 28-4 and are 38th in KenPom's net ratings—one spot behind North Carolina and just above Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Whether Drake, UC San Diego or another squad, there's bound to be at least one lower-seeded team to make a run, and that's exactly what makes the NCAA Tournament so exciting.
