That's why its conference tournament is always a can't-miss thrill ride.
The talent level in this league is tremendous, so we're almost essentially guaranteed to get high-end hoops. Throw in the potential chaos from the single-elimination setup, and this is an event that should be firmly on the radar for every basketball lover.
With less than a week remaining before the opening tip gets tossed, we're here to lay out the tournament schedule and then put on our bracketologist's hat to predict which conference clubs do and don't get into the big dance.

Who's In?
2 of 3
While next week's tournament could still change things, it looks like this conference will send eight schools to March Madness.
Most are no-brainers. Houston will be a No. 1 seed. Texas Tech might be a No. 2 seed now, and Iowa State could conceivably get back up to that seed line with a strong showing in Kansas City. Arizona might be a tournament hot streak away from snagging a No. 3 seed.
There are other locks in this field who won't land on such prominent seed lines.
BYU is on a tear of late, and if it can keep this going at the Big 12 Tournament, it might enter the No. 5-6 seed discussion. That's higher than Kansas should land. The Jayhawks were incredible early—November wins over North Carolina, Michigan State and Duke—but they have a losing record over their last 15 games (7-8).
The conference's final two at-large bids should go to Baylor and West Virginia, both of whom could wind up holding a double-digit seed.
Who's Out?
3 of 3
Assuming Baylor and West Virginia are safely in the tournament, there may not be much happening on the bubble for Big 12 teams.
Cincinnati might come closest to the conversation, but the Bearcats' argument for an invitation isn't convincing. They had two different four-game losing streaks in conference play, and after Wednesday's home loss to Kansas State, this team has dropped four of its last six.
Speaking of the Wildcats, they had an impressive six-game winning streak from late January through the middle of February, but that's kind of all they have to show for this season. They are .500 overall (15-15) and below it in the conference (9-10). Maybe they could turn heads yet with a(nother) win over Iowa State and a deep push into the conference tournament, but it feels like they're doomed by too many head-scratching defeats.
