Rapoport: 'Chance' Saints Cut Derek Carr from Contract; Insider Links Steelers, Titans
Derek Carr's time with the New Orleans Saints could be coming to an end during the offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
"If they're not settled on a contract for Derek Carr, if they want him to take a pay cut, I don't see that happening, there is still a chance as of right now that Derek Carr becomes free," Rapoport said.

Rapoport noted that Carr will have "options" if he hits free agency, listing the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans as potential suitors.
The veteran passer is set to carry cap hits of $51.5 million in 2025 and $61.5 million in 2026, via Spotrac.
Carr previously told ESPN's Katherine Terrell that he "wouldn't take a pay cut" but would "absolutely" be willing to restructure his contract in order to remain with New Orleans.
If both sides can't reach a restructured agreement, cutting the passer appears to be an option for the Saints.
Carr suited up in just 10 games during his 2024 campaign due to an oblique injury as well as a fractured hand. He completed 67.7 percent of his throws for 2,145 yards and 15 touchdowns compared to five interceptions.
The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback finished with a record of just 5-5 as a starter, but New Orleans lost all seven games in which he didn't make an appearance under center.
Pittsburgh could target Carr as its starter next season, with 2024 signal-callers Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both set to become free agents.
The Titans own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft and may view Carr as a short-term option as well as a mentor if they choose to add a quarterback with the top selection.
If the Saints decide to cut ties with Carr, he should be able to find a new home before the 2025 season begins.
