Joe Lunardi Bracketology 2025: Latest Bracket, Bubble Teams, Conference Breakdown

Mike ChiariFeb 28, 2025

ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi released his latest bracketology update Friday for the 2025 NCAA men's basketball tournament.

On X, Lunardi posted a breakdown of his picks, as well as a preview of some games with major NCAA tournament implications this weekend:

Following Thursday's slate of games, Lunardi currently has Auburn, Duke, Alabama and Houston as No. 1 seeds.

Lunardi previously had Florida as a 1-seed, but he dropped the Gators down to No. 2 after their road loss to Georgia this week dropped them to 24-4 on the season.

Houston is also 24-4, but it has reeled off seven consecutive victories, including wins over No. 8 Iowa State and No. 10 Texas Tech in the Cougars' past two outings.

In terms of bubble teams, Lunardi has Oklahoma, Indiana, Ohio State and Texas as the last four teams in, while Georgia, North Carolina, Boise State and Xavier are the first four teams out.

Lundari's previous bracketology had Indiana outside the tourney, but the Hoosiers have won three of their past four games coming out of a five-game losing streak.

Two of those wins were over ranked teams in No. 11 Michigan State and No. 13 Purdue.

Georgia and UNC are the most notable teams outside the top 68 right now by Lunardi's metrics, but they will both still have plenty of opportunities to change that.

The Bulldogs once looked like a strong candidate for a tourney spot, but they recently went through a stretch that saw them lose nine out of 11 games, including four in a row, all of which were against ranked opponents.

Georgia finally stopped the bleeding this week with an 88-83 upset of Florida, though, and its final three regular-season games are against unranked opponents, meaning it could enter the SEC tournament with a 20-11 record.

North Carolina has entered into a hot streak since losing three out of four to Pittsburgh, Duke and Clemson. The Tar Heels have now won four straight, bringing their season record to 18-11.

Aside from potentially making some noise in the ACC tournament, UNC could impress the selection committee on March 8 if it beats its chief rival in No. 2 Duke in the regular-season finale.

The entire NCAA tournament field will be announced on Selection Sunday, which is set for March 16.

However, before that, conference tournaments will run from March 2 through March 16 with the winner of each conference tournament earning an automatic bid into the NCAA tourney.
